Has the fun gone out of Christmas?

Posted: January 10, 2015 in books

So now a new year begins, but is it me, or does Christmas not seem as festive as it used to be? Maybe it’s because I’m getting older, or stressful times have put a dampener on it, but I’m not so sure on that. In the lead up to Christmas, shops and houses rushed to put up their decorations, and most were taken down the day after Christmas. All I seemed to hear about through the period, was the sales. You also had black Friday, which seemed to be more important than the day itself! It seems to me, Christmas has become all about how many deals you can snag, rather than time with your family, and the look on your kids faces Christmas morning when they see their presents. There wasn’t really that many Christmas movies on the television either, but there were plenty of adverts teasing with their sales. Has the joy really gone from Christmas? I feel it has 😦
